Exam Pattern (CBT)

The Computer Based Test (CBT) consists of 100 questions to be answered in 90 minutes. There is a negative marking of 1/3rd mark for each wrong answer.

  • Mathematics: Number System, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time and Work, Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, Square Root, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern.
  • General Intelligence and Reasoning: Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical Operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and Decision making, Similarities and Differences, Analytical Reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement – Arguments and Assumptions.
  • General Science: The syllabus under this shall cover Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences of 10th standard level (CBSE).

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

Candidates who qualify the CBT will have to appear for PET. It is qualifying in nature.

  1. Step 1: One Time Registration (OTR): Candidates created an account on the RRB website using Aadhar verification, Email, and Mobile number.
  2. Step 2: Zone Selection: Candidates had to choose only ONE Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) zone. Multiple applications result in rejection.
  3. Step 3: Post Preference: Candidates marked preferences for posts (e.g., Track Maintainer, Pointsman) based on their medical standard eligibility.
  4. Step 4: Document Upload:
    • Photo: White background, size 30-70KB, taken after notification release.
    • Signature: Running hand (not block letters), size 30-70KB.
    • SC/ST Certificate: For free travel authority.
